The scholarships are specifically designed for applicants who have an exceptional academic profile and have shown leadership through community service, excellence in the arts, or achievements in sports. Notably, students do not need to have received an offer of admission to apply for York’s entrance awards and scholarships. York University Presidential Scholarship
The York University Presidential Scholarship is a prestigious award granted to outstanding international students. The scholarship application deadline is February 15, 2025, and it is open to undergraduate students applying to York University in Canada. Both male and female applicants are eligible to apply. Sponsored by York University, this scholarship recognizes students who exhibit academic excellence and leadership potential.
Each year, up to twenty (20) scholarships are awarded, with a value of $45,000 per year. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three years of full-time undergraduate study, provided that the student maintains good academic standing. Over four years, the total scholarship amount can reach $180,000, making it a highly valuable financial aid opportunity for international students.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the York University Presidential Scholarship, applicants must be international students who require a Study Permit to study in Canada. They must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at York University that begins in Fall 2025. Additionally, students must apply directly from high school, ensuring that no more than two years have passed since their graduation. Applicants must also have no prior university or college studies, except in cases where they are applying for the Tentanda Via Award.
Academic excellence is a key requirement, with students expected to have at least an “A” average or equivalent. Beyond academics, applicants must demonstrate leadership qualities through community service, excellence in the arts, sports, or other individual achievements. As part of the application process, students must submit one letter of recommendation or other relevant supporting documents. All required materials must be uploaded to York University’s MyFile portal and marked as “Received” no later than February 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Additionally, applicants must complete and submit the online International Student Scholarship Application by the same deadline.
Selection & Renewal Criteria
The selection process for the York University Presidential Scholarship is based on a combination of academic excellence and leadership potential. Applicants with the highest academic averages and strong demonstrated leadership skills will be given priority during the selection process.
To retain the scholarship for the full four years, recipients must maintain high academic standing, achieving at least a 7.80 on a 9-point York scale in each academic year at York University. Moreover, by submitting the International Student Scholarship Application, applicants will also be considered for other available international scholarships that require an application, increasing their chances of receiving financial support.
