Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Shanghai Government Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:
– Be a non-Chinese citizen in good health
– For Ph.D. programs, hold a Master’s degree and be under 40 years old
– For Master’s programs, hold a Bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old
– For Bachelor’s programs, hold a high school diploma, be at least 16 years old, and under 25 years old
– Have excellent academic and extracurricular records
– Not be receiving any other scholarships from the Chinese government, institutions, or organizations

Documents Required for Application
– Valid passport copy (valid beyond September 2026)
– Highest degree certificate (notarized)
– Academic transcripts (notarized)
– Personal statement written in Chinese or English
– Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors
– Study or research plan for Master’s and Ph.D. applicants
– Medical examination report completed after November 2024
– Non-criminal record certificate
– Proof of language proficiency
– For Chinese-taught programs: HSK 4 or higher
– For English-taught programs: TOEFL (80+) or IELTS (6.0+)
– Other supporting documents such as certificates or published papers
