The Mandela Rhodes Scholarships Programme provides financial support for postgraduate studies along with a leadership development programme to cultivate exceptional leadership in Africa. Scholars study at a South African tertiary institution registered with the South African Council on Higher Education for an accredited postgraduate degree. The scholarship is awarded for one or two years for an Honours or Master’s degree.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
– Be citizens of any African country
– Intend to pursue postgraduate studies at a South African university or tertiary institution
– Apply for an Honours degree (maximum one year) or Master’s degree (maximum two years) – MBAs are excluded
– Be between 19 and 30 years old at the time of taking up the scholarship
– Possess a first degree or be completing one by January 31, 2026
– Have a strong academic track record
– Demonstrate commitment to the principles of Education, Reconciliation, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship
– Be available to attend mandatory leadership development activities, including weekend workshops
