Flinders University PhD Scholarships – Global Hydrogen Production (HyPT) Centre
Overview
Flinders University is offering two fully funded PhD scholarships as part of the Global Hydrogen Production (HyPT) Centre. This centre brings together 34 leading scholars from 19 institutions across six countries (US, Australia, Canada, Egypt, and Germany) to develop large-scale net-zero hydrogen production solutions.
The available PhD projects are:
Clusters as Co-Catalysts for Photocatalysts – Supervised by Prof. Gunther Andersson (Project 1).
Water Resources – Supervised by Prof. Okke Batelaan and Assoc. Prof. Ilka Wallis (Project 2).
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates will receive:
A tax-free stipend of $35,000 per annum.
An initial scholarship duration of three years, with the possibility of a six-month extension.
A Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship covering tuition fees for Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, and permanent residents.
International students will also be considered for the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or an international applicant.
Meet PhD admission requirements, including:
An Australian Honours degree (Class 1 or 2A) or equivalent qualification at AQF Level 8, with a research component of at least six months full-time study achieving Distinction (75%).
OR demonstrate equivalent research experience, such as a first-author refereed publication or experience as an investigator on a competitive grant.
Have relevant academic qualifications and research experience:
For Project 1: A degree and research background in Physics or Chemistry (preferably in surface functionalisation and surface analysis).
For Project 2: A Master’s or Honours degree in Earth/Environmental Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related disciplines. Experience in quantitative groundwater hydrology research is highly desirable.
Be available to commence full-time PhD studies at Flinders University before the end of 2024.
