The Pan African University (PAU) Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for young, talented, and ambitious African students to pursue Master’s or PhD degrees in selected fields. The scholarship is an initiative of the African Union (AU) aimed at providing high-quality postgraduate education to support Africa’s scientific, technological, and socio-economic development.

The African Union (AU) is a continental organization consisting of 55 member states across Africa. Established in 2002 as a successor to the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the AU’s objectives include:

Master’s Degree Applicants
Age limit:
30 years (male applicants)
35 years (female applicants)
Must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least a Second Class Upper Division or its equivalent in a relevant field
Must provide:
Certified copies of degree certificates and transcripts (university and high school)
Passport or National ID (personal details page)
A recent passport-sized color photo (2cm x 2cm)
Detailed CV
Recommendation letter from a former university lecturer
Names and contacts (email and WhatsApp) of three university lecturers as references
PhD Applicants
Age limit:
35 years (male applicants)
40 years (female applicants)
Must have a Master’s degree in a relevant field from PAU or any internationally recognized university
Must provide:
Certified copies of relevant certificates and transcripts
Passport or National ID (personal details page)
A recent passport-sized color photo (2cm x 2cm)
Detailed CV
Two recommendation letters from Professors
A 3-4 page Research Concept Note (including tentative title, research questions, objectives, significance of the research, etc.)
Names and contacts (email and WhatsApp) of three university lecturers as references
Candidates may be required to undergo a written or oral examination after pre-selection.
Applicants for Conference Interpreting and Translation programs must have excellent proficiency in at least two of the African Union’s official languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese).
