The University of Glasgow is offering up to 30 Sanctuary Scholarships for applicants who have been forced to travel to the UK for humanitarian reasons and are facing challenges in accessing higher education. The scholarship is open to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate taught students applying for entry in September 2025/26. Applicants must have applied to the University before submitting a scholarship application.

Aim and Benefits of Sanctuary Scholarships
The Sanctuary Scholarship provides:
– Full tuition fee waiver for the duration of study for students not eligible for mainstream student finance
– £5,000 per year towards study costs
– University of Glasgow accommodation for the duration of study, if eligible (for those with no access to public funds)
Requirements for Sanctuary Scholarships Qualification
To be eligible, applicants must:
– Hold a firm conditional or unconditional offer for full-time study at the University of Glasgow for 2025/26
– Have submitted a claim for asylum in the UK, be actively appealing a negative decision, or have been granted Refugee Status, Humanitarian Protection, or Discretionary Leave by the Home Office as a result of an asylum claim
OR
– Have come to the UK through schemes such as:
– UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)
– Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme
– Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)
– Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme (VPRS)
– Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine)
– Ukraine Family Scheme
