The Taiwan Scholarship is offered by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) to encourage outstanding Nigerian students (excluding students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau) to pursue degree programs in Taiwan. Benefits of the Scholarship
– **Living allowance:**
– Undergraduate: NTD 15,000 per month (approximately US$468)
– Master’s: NTD 20,000 per month (approximately US$625)
– Doctoral: NTD 20,000 per month (approximately US$625)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
– Be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
– Be a high school graduate or above with excellent academic performance and good moral character
– Not be a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
– Not be an R.O.C. (Taiwan) Overseas Compatriot student
– Have never enrolled in Taiwan for the same level of degree studies
– Not be an exchange student under any international university agreements with Taiwan
– Have never received the scholarship for more than the total award period of five years
– Have never been disqualified from a Taiwan Scholarship
– Not be a recipient of any other scholarship or subsidy from the Taiwan government or any educational institution in Taiwan
Selection Process
– Applications will be reviewed based on submitted documents, and an interview may be required.
– Applicants will be notified of the scholarship decision by May 30, 2025.
– Awardees must submit proof of admission to their chosen university in Taiwan to the Taipei Trade Office by June 30, 2025.
Scholarship Duration
– Undergraduate program: Maximum 4 years
– Master’s program: Maximum 2 years
– Doctoral program: Maximum 4 years
Required Documents
1. A completed Taiwan Scholarship Application Form
2. A photocopy of the applicant’s Nigerian passport
3. A photocopy of the highest diploma and transcript (translated documents must be authenticated if not in English or Chinese)
4. A photocopy of the application for admission to a Taiwanese university (e.g., proof of application fee payment, application form, or university acknowledgment email)
5. Proof of language proficiency:
– For non-English programs: TOCFL Level 3 or above
– For all-English programs: TOEFL or other English proficiency test (if English is not the applicant’s native language)
6. A proof document from the intended university in Taiwan if the program is not listed under the Ministry of Education’s English programs
7. Two reference letters (from a principal, university president, professor, or supervisor) in sealed envelopes
8. A completed “Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement”
