The KMMS Canterbury City Council Scholarship is designed to support widening participation in Canterbury and Kent, offering financial assistance to students studying Medicine & Surgery at the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS).

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Have accepted an unconditional or conditional offer to study Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery at KMMS (starting September 2025).
Provide evidence of financial hardship.
Demonstrate ongoing commitment to community activities in Canterbury or Kent.
Have lived, worked, or studied in Canterbury or have previous ties to the area (such as birth, family residence, or education beyond primary school).
Additional Considerations
Priority is given to students from Canterbury. If no suitable applicants apply, students from wider Kent will be considered.
Applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g., first-generation university students, young carers, care leavers) will receive additional consideration.
Required Documents
To apply, you must submit:
A 500-word personal statement titled “Why I should be considered for the Canterbury City Council Scholarship.”
Proof of financial need, such as:
16-19 Bursary
UCAT Bursary
Benefits statement
P60 or Self-Assessment Tax Return
Three months’ payslips for household adults
Evidence of residency, work, or education in Canterbury or Kent.
Confirmation of care status (if applicable) from a local authority.
