Australia Awards Africa Scholarship Program 2025
The Australia Awards Africa Scholarship Program is a prestigious international scholarship offered by the Australian Government to develop future leaders in eligible African countries. Through study and research, recipients gain skills and knowledge to drive inclusive development and foster strong connections with Australia.

Recipients will receive:
Return air travel to Australia
One-time establishment allowance upon arrival
Full tuition fees covered
Contribution to living expenses
Introductory academic program
Overseas student health cover for the duration of the scholarship
Supplementary academic support
Fieldwork allowance (for research students and coursework programs with compulsory fieldwork)
Disability support (assessed on a case-by-case basis)
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
Be at least 25 years old by February 1, 2026
Have at least five years of post-graduate work experience in a relevant field
Be currently employed in a field related to their proposed area of study
Be a citizen and resident of one of these eligible African countries:
Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
Not already hold or be undertaking a Master’s degree
Hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to an Australian undergraduate degree
Not have received a long-term Australia Award previously
Meet the minimum English language proficiency:
IELTS: At least 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0
TOEFL iBT: At least 84 overall, with minimum 21 in all subtests
PTE Academic: Overall 58, with no communicative skill below 50
(Scores must be valid as of January 1, 2025; English proficiency requirements do not apply if your first language is English and you completed your education in English.)
