The Beinecke Scholarship Program honors Edwin, Frederick, and Walter Beinecke through an endowment created by The Sperry and Hutchinson Company. It provides significant scholarships to support the graduate education of exceptional students in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The program encourages students to pursue opportunities boldly and has supported 739 college juniors from 122 institutions since its inception in 1975.

Scholarship Value:
Each recipient receives:

$5,000 before entering graduate school.
An additional $30,000 during graduate studies. Funds are unrestricted geographically and may be supplemented by other financial resources.
Scholars must begin graduate studies immediately after their undergraduate degree and utilize all funds within six years of completing undergraduate studies.
The Beinecke African Scholarship Program

Launched in 1996 in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Society, the Beinecke African Scholarship Program supports African students pursuing graduate studies in conservation or wildlife ecology. Initially awarding one scholarship annually from 1998–2002, the program expanded to two awards per year.

Funding Sources:

One scholarship funded by The Sperry Fund.
Another by an endowment at the Wildlife Conservation Society.

Total Scholarships Awarded: 43 (24 by The Sperry Fund, 18 by Wildlife Conservation Society Endowment, 1 by The Prospect Hill Foundation).
